ISS Flight 5A was launched aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS-98.

Launch Date: February 7, 2001

The "5A" designation indicates that it is the fifth American flight in a planned series of flights to construct the International Space Station (ISS). The Flight 5A element consists of the U.S. Laboratory, also known as the "Destiny" module. Destiny will allow astronauts and scientists to work in a shirt sleeve environment as they conduct scientific research, long term, while on orbit.
