S3/S4 Truss Segments


Summary of Mission
The following is a summary of the events occurring on this
flight:
- Rendezvous of the Orbiter with the Space Station occurs
at an altitude of 220 nmi.
- Flight 13A delivers ITA
S3, PV module
S4 and 4 PASs.
- The S3/S4 truss segments are attached to the Starboard
side of truss segment S1.
- The major component of the S3 truss segment is the solar
alpha rotary joint. Segment S3 accommodates solar
tracking in support of ISSA photo-voltaic
power system. It provides accommodation for 4 attached
payloads (no ULC).
- The S4 PV module
is the third of four U.S. solar array based power
sources. S4 provides the photo voltaic power system,
storage batteries and related avionics.
- S3/S4 segments are approximately 45.3 feet long.
- ITS P6 is in the
permanent port outboard location.
- All EATC
radiators are now activated.
