P3/P4 Truss Segments


Summary of Mission
The following is a summary of the events occurring on this
flight:
- Rendezvous of the Orbiter with the Space Station occurs
along the + V-bar at an altitude of 215 nmi.
- Flight 12A delivers ITA
P3, PV module
P4 and 2 Unpressurized Logistics Carriers Attach Systems.
- The P3/P4 truss segments are attached to the port side of
truss segment P1.
- The major component of the P3 truss segment is the solar
alpha rotary joint. Segment P3 accommodates solar
tracking in support of ISSA photo-voltaic
power system. It provides accommodation for 2
unpressurized logistics carriers and attached payloads.
- The P4 PV module
is the third of four U.S. solar array based power
sources. P4 provides the photo voltaic power system,
storage batteries and related avionics.
- P3/P4 segments are approximately 45.3 feet long.
